In a word, what these two men taught this naïve, all too arrogant young student of the law was that, by and large, most business disputes have all too much to do with "nonsense", to put it politely, and all too little to do with the law.
To be sure, all business disputes are spawned by the material objectives of money, property and power, but they're all just as certainly enabled to grow into ugly, nasty, juvenile donnybrooks by the sheer forces of pride and personality.
I know this sounds harsh, particularly if you're reading it right now because you've found yourself in a business dilemma, but the fact of the matter is that you've found yourself there because you and your cranky business counterpart can no longer see the forest for the trees, which is exactly why you now need a no-nonsense lawyer or back-to-business mediator, or both, to guide you back to a place where you can breathe..
